Success at the MEPBG Exmoor Pony Show
Bear's progeny and Monsieur Chapeau do well at Brendon
Despite a shocking weather forecast, Brendon Show went ahead on Sunday 12 August - and included the MEPBG Exmoor Pony Show. Fortunately, the worst of the rain was over by mid morning and our Exmoor ponies were in good form.
Bear's lovely daughter, Yellowcombe Lapwing
(owned by us and bred by Rosalie Hughes), stood MEPBG Overall Supreme Champion, Pedigree In Hand Champion and Overall Reserve Supreme Mountain & Moorland Champion. Lapwing has been with us for a few months now and we are thrilled to have been entrusted with this beautiful mare.
Bear's handsome young son, Farleywater Kenai
(owned by Marion Adams/Helen South and shown by Helen South) stood MEPBG Overall Reserve Supreme Champion, Moorbred Champion and won his Mountain & Moorland class.
The wonderful Monsieur Chapeau
stood MEPBG Non-Pedigree Champion and Reserve Moorbred Champion. It is such a shame that DNA still hasn't identified his dam from the pedigree Exmoor ponies running out on the Dunkery Commons, which means he can't take part in affiliated breed showing. It was lovely to be able to show him at Brendon, in the non-pedigree section at least. He thoroughly enjoys his outings and wears a bitless bridle.
It was good to see two Herd 423 (now Foreland Herd) ponies in the ridden class, with Bethany Rawle's Que Sera Sera
standing Best Ridden Exmoor.
